Mike Tyson Admits to Cocaine Addiction in Scottsdale, Arizona

Former World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Mike Tyson was arrested on December 30, 2006 after being stopped in Scottsdale, Arizona on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Tyson was stopped by a Scottsdale police officer working on the holiday DUI taskforce at 1:45 am when Tyson's BMW 745i was moving erratically. The former heavyweight champ failed the field sobriety tests and three small bags of a white substance, later identified as cocaine, were found either on Tyson or in the vehicle.

According to the Arizona Republic, Tyson admitted to being an addict and possessing the bags of cocaine. Court supervision including drug and alcohol checks were ordered by the court while Tyson awaits a hearing on January 15, 2007.

The former champ at one time was known as "Iron Mike Tyson" and "The Baddest Man on the Planet" when he was in his prime in the mid to late 1980's. At 20 years and 4 months old, Mike Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion ever by knocking out title holder Trevor Berbick in the second round of their WBC title fight.
